When Jehu Project Services were looking for a telephone system for their new purpose-built offices at Bridgend in South Wales, they turned to Equations. At first glance their needs might seem typical – structured cabling for 200 or more double outlets, easy call-handling, voicemail and call-logging.
But there were a few special additions to concentrate our minds!
- The company was spread over three floors and was offering managed office space to other businesses. Some of these businesses wanted their calls handled by Jehu and others preferred to handle their calls themselves
- Staff were not always based at one desk. Some needed to hot desk within the building, others wanted to work at Jehu offices elsewhere (at Haverfordwest, for example), and some wished to work from home
Thus, regardless of where they were, staff needed to be in control of where their calls were directed, and to be able to retrieve voicemail and contact other members of staff on the move.
"It was clear from the outset that very few products could meet even the majority of our requirements’, says Jehu’s Managing Director. ‘Yet, from the outset, Equations grasped what we wanted to achieve, and had a product in their portfolio (the Splicecom Maximiser) that could meet our needs both initially, and as we continue to grow. Since the initial installation we’ve added eight more users and have another thirteen scheduled. Equations have handled the additions and programming changes quickly and painlessly."
More expansion, more communication
Jehu’s rapid expansion meant opening another office in Haverfordwest. Once again, Jehu’s Managing Director was delighted with Equations’ advice and work. ‘We took the opportunity to take over an endangered Grade II listed building. Not the easiest cabling job, but Equations has taken this in its stride and the site is cabled and fitted with another Maximiser telephone system’.
In time, we’ll be linking the two systems for Jehu, providing a Virtual Private Network.
‘We won’t be going anywhere else ...’
For Jehu, with staff working at a number of different building sites and offices, flexible communication is the key. The Splicecom Maximiser’s hot desking features (whether using ISDN, SIP or IP connectivity) ticked all the company’s boxes.
"As for any technical solution, good advice from the outset is key and we got that with Equations. We have bought two telephone systems so far and have a third site planned.
